5 DAY TRIP!!! Days 2 – 5

So We went Alpine Sliding in Vermont on Tuesday and stayed in the Point Resort. Alpine Sliding was at Bromley’s in Vermont. It had Alpine Sliding, mini-golf, a zip line, and other rides. After a few hours of Alpine Sliding we went to the hotel and stayed the night.

Wednesday was an outdoors day. We went to New Hampshire and went on a scenic hike off the Kancamugas Highway. Its one of the top ten most scenic drives in the U.S. We went from there to our Hotel in Maine.

On Thursday we woke up at 4:30 AM, Davened and ate breakfast. Then we left to white water rafting in Maine. We went early in the morning so we could catch the dam being opened creating class 4 rapids. We went 12 miles down the river then finished. We ate lunch and left to the Maine Mall in Portland Maine. After about and hour and a half there we left for the long drive back to camp and arrived back in camp early this morning.

Pictures of the trip are posted here

Color War

Color war started with a fake out with the staff teams being very uneven. After a quick team time the “teams” presented their cheer songs. During the cheer songs the local police came and “arrested” Rabbi Portowicz because camp was being too loud. After a little skit with acting on both sides of the “fight” color war 2010 was officially broke out.

Today was the first of three days of color war. The day will end off with a comedy skit. More on color war tomorrow.

The trip was amazing. We left at 3pm after inter-camp games with Camp Nageela. We boarded the busses for the long drive to Six Flags Great Escape in Lake George. We arrived at 6pm and ate supper. Then we entered the water park. The water park had a few slides a “Tornado”, a wave pool, a lazy river, and some other water attractions. The water park closed at 8:30.

After the water park we had the rest of Six Flags to ourselves and 4 other camps. The park was opened until 11:30. We then boarded the buses for the long ride home to end our amazing trip.

2nd Half Report

Sorry for the delay between blogs.

The second half of the summer kicked up right away with sports. One day after campers arrived they were on a league team. Leagues are now underway. Night activities with Adam Aranov have been great. Last night we played capture the counselor.

Today we will be playing inter-camp games vs. Camp Nageela. More about today in tomorrow’s blog.

Trip to Hershey Park 7/21 – 7/22

This Wednesday, Camp went on its first grand trip to Hershey Park. We left after lunch and after a little bit of traffic we arrived at our hotel at 6 pm. At the hotel we davened Mincha and settled in our rooms. We then left to Hershey Park ate supper and stayed until 10 pm. Back at the hotel we had a poolside BBQ.  On Thursday we went back to Hershey Park in the morning and spent  a whole day there. During the day we did a camp “freeze” where everyone froze at the same time. The entire trip was amazing.

Shabbos 7-17

Shabbos this week was amazing. We welcomed back our original Kollel counselor Adam Aranof. He came in and pumped our Shabbos up. During Olympics we welcomed back Meir Khaver also a former Kochavim counselor. With them two Z’miros were crazy. Everyone was into the singing and Shabbos was amazing. Can’t wait for next week.

Blue Team Wins! Now lets go to a carnival

After a crazy olympics which ended last night with the grand plays the blue team of Galous America won. The competition was close and the final score was (REAL SCORE!!) 1079 to 1072! Right after the announcement of the winner camp was dismissed straight to a carnival set up on our basketball courts. Campers stayed up late last night running around in the carnival. Everyone had a blast. Now we are hoping to take the excitement straight into Shabbos. Good Shabbos!
